short version of her backstory, the ‘historical part of it’ that can adapt to non fantasy fandoms too, for people who don’t care much about details even with ocs (v. slandered singer):

-Lorelei is born out of wedlock in Germany in the late 1600, a shameful condition at the time. Her rich and powerful grandmother, the countess Lorelei the First, takes her in to raise her with love back in London, trying to have society accept her with her influence and not being as helpful with her daughter Lydia who wants little to do with her child.
-Lorelei has an incredible singing voice and catches more than a man’s eye. She starts turning into a very famous singer in England and nearby countries and hopes she may be accepted after all, have a ‘lady’s life.
-A man who was courting her (Edward) rejected by her grandmother for being too fickly gets revenge by asking for a goodbye kiss when she thinks they are alone and making it seem as if Lorelei is as ‘loose’ as her mother and has been trying to seduce him. Rumors fly, suddenly plenty fake lovers pop up. Her reputation is ruined but Lorelei doesn’t give up on her singing career and wants to travel and start over again. She still wants acceptance and love. Society only wants her voice and to talk behind her back. She also takes some time off to take care of her dying grandmother, knowing she’ll be without a home later on, her mother has married but will never want her around. Then she goes back to look for a home that will accept her (and also hopefully a husband so she can inherit what her grandmother wanted her to have).
-By 28 she’s back in Germany, and there is a cliff where she likes to go sing by herself, to train before her performances. Another man (duke Russel) wants to marry her, a bad man who, when rejected by her out of pride, after he made clear he was doing her a big favor by taking her even if old and ruined, reacts with fury and pushes her off the cliff after attacking her. She lives.

-If you don’t want to write a magical version of her being rescued from death, it takes her years to recover, a lot of strength, and she’s in her early/mid-thirty in threads, still a singer after her “mysterious disappearance”, scars hidden but limping and having nearly fully given up on being cared for, still behaving how she finds proper but even more outspoken. (v. fallen and risen again)

The fantasy part of her backstory (v. cursed siren):

-Sea goddess Calypso temporarily trapped in human form can only save her by cursing her: she has extra strength but loses her beauty when she uses it; she keeps her voice, now magical and able to draw man to her. Lorelei is able to tell which men are likely to hurt women because denied and can kill them.
The curse can only be broken if Lorelei is accepted and loved despite what she is now (not necessarily romantically), or if the man who attacked her is killed before he reaches the natural end of his life. Ordinary weapons are too weak to hurt her, magical ones can.

-even as a ‘siren’, Lorelei doesn’t enjoy hurting men but wants to protect other women from the bad ones. She not a mindless monster, people can speak to her and even find shelter if not afraid of the way she sometimes chooses to look like. She’s not immortal, she can age (slowly) and can die from that or magical weapons (ordinary ones are too weak). When she’s not ‘wearing’ her monster face and she looks like her human self she’s vulnerable to regular weapons too - she can save herself by turning into a monster again but she will feel the pain and be slower/weaker.

-she’s not submissive, she will speak her mind as a human too (within reason if still a little too boldly), what’s the point of holding it back? but blushes easily, the poor woman only ever had one kiss despite what her reputation says, but she’d also get reasonably scared when in danger and do as told. Prideful (to the point that she will still refuse a man’s proposal if done out of pity or without enthusiasm, no matter if she’s desperate for companionship or risking to go hungry, and that’s even after being pushed off a cliff), sometimes a little harsh or sarcastic, confident in her voice, and once she likes someone definitely becomes more chatty. She’s easily impressed, and more open-minded, given her upbringing, than most. She does become more disillusioned about romance, still wishes to marry so she can inherit her grandmother’s belongings if only because her dear grandmother did not want Lorelei’s mother to have them. The whole ‘being proper’ is also fading a bit, at least the parts that don’t feel important to her, the more she goes on. The older she grows, the more her wish to be accepted stops being about high society or society as a whole and becomes about finding a person or more who will love her for who she is.Even iIf she can’t find them, she refuses to hide from the world and let it win. She ALWAYS says the truth about what was done to her, because innocent and angry about it, and brings up her reputation herself.

-she doesn’t have PTSD. While human she is understandably uneasy when rejecting men now, but she’s also not generally afraid of all men. She’s rightfully hurt and can have nightmares/anxiety but PTSD is more complex than that.

-obviously in verses where she’s not rescued by magic after the fall, most of her body has scars (hidden by clothes and makeup). She also limps, her left leg isn’t as trustworthy so she uses a cane to walk and feels chronic pain, and there are days when she can’t get out of bed. There are plenty made up stories people came up with trying to guess why, and of course whatever time period we set this in, which must be long in the past, her disability is one more stigma.

Long version of the backstory:
-’historical’ part- (v. slandered singer)

Born out of wedlock, Lorelei was named after her grandmother, the countess Lorelei Baltz, who had her daughter Lydia sail to London and come back to the family mansion so that she could raise the child herself, sensing that Lorelei’s mother was blaming the child for the shame that she had brought upon their family. Lydia was sixteen, visiting her paternal uncles in Germany, and only wanted to have fun and find a rich husband, but also follow her every whim and not be stuck with a baby if she could avoid it, not caring one bit of the problems she had caused to the rest of the family.
At first the family lied about Lorelei’s father being dead, but between her mother’s still scandalous behavior and lovers who came to try to win her back soon enough everyone among their social circles knew the truth; still, her grandmother, who did love Lorelei, tried to give her all the teachings and confidence she needed to go on with her life without letting people’s constant judgment bring her down - and hopefully some day find a husband despite her condition.
Lydia kept causing trouble but since the family was very rich and influent, people were willing to be polite, at least publicly, to little Lorelei.

Her mother did find a man who would marry her a couple of years later and eventually went on having other children, who were more doted on because wanted.

One of Lorelei’s true saving grace was her singing voice, beautiful enough to distract the most diffident people and soon popular enough to guarantee that Lorelei may not actually need to beg for a husband any time soon and even be able to support herself in one of the few non-criminal way possible for a woman, even if she couldn’t directly inherit the Baltz’s fortune. She began to perform all over England and to hope that she could find happiness in music as well as make people forget her background and actually accept her.
She wanted to be as close to the ordinary life of the ladies her grandmother knew as possible, and out of naivety when twenty-one she started falling for the first handsome man who had been bold enough to follow her through most of her tour for the chance of hearing her sing, Edward.
Sadly the man was a gambler who followed every temporary fancy and then dropped it to move to the next, and her grandmother knew enough to deny Edward any courting; out of revenge, he persuaded Lorelei to give him a goodbye kiss and made it so that people would walk on them just as he pretended to push her away over being too bold, just like her mother.
Immediately rumors of Lorelei’s conduct started flying, her reputation directly ruined and not by her mother’s actions, and Lorelei fought for the truth to be recognized to no avail. Even fake lovers started to show up to gain attention or because friends with Edward. She refused to stop singing and was still invited to do so, but nobody would accost her after her plays, enjoying her voice but keeping due distance, talking behind her back and not wanting to be associated with her and her scandalous family. Her grandmother, just in case more happened, began to secretly teach Lorelei how to survive by herself, cook and clean, in case she wouldn’t be able to afford maids after all.

Wanting to start again, Lorelei decided to use her small fortune to travel, at this point already seen as an old maid at home and having lost hope to find love and be married to a good man, but wanting to at least be her own woman and walk with her head up once again; and she was often chaperoned by one of her mother’s siblings and his family, who still believed in her and wanted to be part of her tours (but their family was numerous and Lorelei the First had five kids, three nof them being men, so they weren’t able to promise Lorelei she’d be taken for her whole life if she stayed unmarried). Lorelei took a break to take care of her dying grandmother, then resumed traveling, her family’s fortune passing to her mother and her husband and her mother not being too welcoming of her.
But Lorelei hadn’t given up on trying to find a home yet.

Destiny had other plans and back in Germany yet another man, a duke from a far away island named Isla Fuego, fell for her singing voice and beauty, followed her to the cliff where she used to go sing by herself, offering to marry her on the spot but making clear she had to be grateful for it; Lorelei, a prideful woman, refused harshly.
He attacked her, pushed her down the cliff, but Lorelei didn’t die.
If you don’t want to write a magical version of it, it took her years to recover after being lucky enough to be immediately found by a doctor, and a lot of strength, and she’s in her early/mid-thirty in threads, still a singer, hiding her scars, limping, disliking the help she gets over it, trying to learn more about medicine so she can help others and herself, more ready to joke even if with dark humor at times, not really expecting to ever find a husband again and resigned to be treated in certain ways. (v. fallen and risen again)

-The fantasy part that can adapt to fandoms with magic- (v. cursed siren)

Almost out of stubbornness she was able to survive and wash ashore, where a witch found her and was able to patch her up enough that she could survive the short trip to where the goddess Calypso, trapped in the form of a human woman named Tia Dalma, lived.
Calypso, with her powers limited by her humanity, could only save her life with a curse - and a blessing, depending on how one would look at it - and giving the broken woman magical strength, a nearly monstrous appearance when she used it, and a new quality to her voice; her singing now had the magical ability to draw men to her, and to let her see if the men in question were the sort to hurt or kill a woman out of revenge because denied in any way, from marriage to sex. Lorelei was free to kill them and leave the crew at the mercy of Davy Jones or spare them all.

The curse can only be broken by Lorelei being accepted and loved despite her looks and abilities, or by finding the man who nearly killed her and taking his life, but she can’t kill him herself.

OTHER VERSES:

-after the curse is broken for any reason, v. a woman once again, Lorelei has to deal with what she chose to do while a siren, has seen too much to care about being accepted by high society, and will go anywhere to cheer people up with her singing/possibly finding love or a family in our threads; she still wants to marry so that no matter who the man is her grandmother’s will can be uphold and she will get her inheritance, much like Lorelei the First wished.

-potc related, v. part of the ship: (if you play Davy Jones this will not forced on you as automatic backstory) she’s ‘rescued’ by Davy Jones who was soothed by her singing on the cliff, but he has no place for a woman in his crew and leaves her below deck, where she becomes part of the ship and sings, until freed because healed enough or because released by your muse. He hadn’t meant to keep her as prisoner, after all. For threads where your character may rescue her, or be part of cursed crews.

-generally related to pirates, v. sea shanty: shunned and with no money on her at the time, after her recovery from being pushed down a cliff she joins a pirate crew, having been taken under the captain’s protection because of her singing, and can be found anywhere near pirates, earning a living by singing, usually not harassed either due to her voice or because under the wing of a powerful pirate.

-magical fandoms-related, especially ouat or Merlin - v. sad siren: a variation of her backstory for these fandoms, she is rescued by a witch’s magic and the spell gives her voice the same magical ability to draw people to her and soothe hearts. She becomes a siren but only brings happiness and hides from danger.

v. legitimate daughter: depending on our plotting needs, her unknown father can turn out to be a man with royal blood or a nobleman named Frederick II of Limburg. He and Lorelei’s mother had an ‘adventure’ when sixteen, a wonderful weekend that ended with them spending the night together, Lydia later on informing him of the pregnancy, him refusing to acknowledge it and getting away; after having a change of heart decades later (this can be set before or after the fall from the cliff) he comes back for Lorelei, deciding to recognize her as one of his children. This may also be used as a background for arranged marriage plots, since he’d be interested in finding a husband for his daughter regardless of her reputation and his money, for practical reason but also so that she won’t grow old alone.

v. beggar: set whether she has fallen off the cliff yet or not, in this universe eventually Lorelei found herself out of luck, no more gigs due to her bad reputation and her uncle’s family taking a step back and not helping her travel anymore, no inheritance, a mother unwilling to help, her pride making her refuse to accept pity from people who know her well in front of the eyes of all the people she grew up with, no husband to take care of her, so she was forced to travel and try to earn money in any way possible except for prostitution. But there aren’t many open paths to women who have less experience in domestic work than others and are unmarried and without family to help them, especially if her reputation is brought up. More often than not she’s forced to perform in the streets to earn some money, which usually works but it’s not enough to live, and sometimes she finds little gigs cleaning or serving tables. She can be homeless if not offered a room, and she’s desperate for honest work.

v. beggar and almost a mother: like above, but on top of it when she found a child abandoned by the evil pirate/criminal father and chased by the lawmen as if guilty of anything himself, she claimed to be the mother, confirmed that she was a lover to an important man who wanted nothing to do with them and left in dishonor. She saved the child, and now she has to keep the lie up, and try to provide for both while having a fake constant proof of her ‘terrible behavior’ with men right next to her. This vers

I’d like to write Rose Tyler from Doctor Who with the Doctor (and TenToo of course), and for her to be a damaged but still good version of herself years after Doomsday, who had to ‘be’ the Doctor without his brain and resources, and therefore not always succeeding in her ‘saving and running’, who went through a lot more than what she let on.

She has been hurt physically and emotionally, but she also still loves to help and to reach out to people (and she still loves the Doctor).

The point is wanting to explore what it would do to her to be trapped in a parallel universe after having seen what time and space travel has to offer, fighting to be reunited with the love of her life for years, and of course wanting to keep helping people, saving them, traveling, and inevitably facing failure too many times (while also having some great moments connecting with others she has rescued), getting very very hurt in many ways, much like the Doctor but not as unbreakable, and now suddenly having to show herself to him while feeling so changed, and while wrestling with darker instincts, trauma-responses and her need/wish to still do good. May have some un-Rose behaviors that will be unpacked, some of her wounds will heal, some will not.

Some more details, so that you can also tell me if it’s triggering for you (unless it’s already in your rules) and I’ll choose a softer past for her, and to also know what to expect in general, and know that the Doctor is allowed to notice her behaviors and make assumptions, it’s not godmodding if he guesses things right even if she’s trying to hide them:

because she was trapped in a fantasy where she and the Doctor were reunited over and over and over again (an attempt to gain her trust and make her give out secrets), Rose always have to make sure this Doctor is the real one: one thing that never felt right was his hand, which she held so many times in reality while running with him, so whenever she wakes up from a nap, a night of sleep or being knocked out, she finds excuses to touch his hand, trying to go unnoticed.
she has physical scars from beatings/wounds she got from humans and aliens, and wanting to protect the Doctor at first she will do her very best to hide them all
one of the scars comes from her last attempt to be more like the Doctor, less immediately-deadly, and to give the bad guy a chance even if she and another girl had been kidnapped and hurt. She nearly got the girl killed and was also stabbed for it, almost killed but rescued by Mickey, and can’t help but blame herself: if the Doctor had been the one there, he’d have found a way to get through the bad guy or would have known this was a lost cause.
getting into trouble often, no TARDIS to help, she’s developed the habit to store food and other things that could be useful, pocket them for ‘later’ when there may not be any, and it’s hard to lose it even if now she doesn’t really go hungry.
she doesn’t have panic attacks, she doesn’t have some typical trauma-reactions, but she does have mood swings when confronted with something that reminds her of past traumas, she is more afraid of being left behind by the Doctor and sorta expects it, has a much lower opinion of herself as a person, while still fighting to keep her opinion of humanity in general high, and sometimes her anger, induced by fear and by wanting to do better, turns into the feeling that she has to take all problems in her hands and eliminate the enemies before they can do more damage.
yet, it can still be quick/easy to see her kinder, hopeful side come back if helped, she never stopped trying her best. She simply was left too much time alone after going through horrible things.
despite flinching if caught off guard since the last beat down from that bad guy who stabbed her, and will in fact flinch or wince if the Doctor moves abruptly and she wasn’t expecting it, it’s more of an instinct caused by specific factors, and outside of it she still loves and craves physical affection.

About Swan

AU of an AU where the curse happens but ten years later, and Regina keeps them in the Enchanted Forest while Emma is outside of the dome that surrounds the cursed land, her memories wiped by Rumplestiltskin: one day she will be led back to the kingdom and be their Savior, and that was part of the future he saw for her so he followed it. That and saving the little girl by making a deal, so that she’ll owe him two favors for it: one day he’d come and demand her son, another day when Emma is the Savior and the curse is broken, he’ll demand she’ll reunite him with his son as well.
So all she knows is that she was “surely” abandoned around the time the curse hit, was found in beggar’s clothes, that her name is Emma (but she always goes by Swan) and that she has a necklace with a swan on it (which is the only thing he let her keep, a present from the fairies, and the reason why the fairies can recognize her and, at least the ones outside of the dome, help her survive).

Personality: She’s truly not used to talking much to people unless it’s to buy, sell, steal, sleep with a man or threaten someone. The one version of Emma that is basically a killing machine due to her obsession for revenge and years spent training to be unbeatable, this is the Emma who can absolutely keep up with anyone. After all, after a hell of a hard life she was made to believe that her baby had been taken and likely murdered just to pay her back for stealing food, and that was after being betrayed by the baby’s father as well, so her life is all about killing the people behind it.

Gruff, often angry, very appreciative of money and whatever can get her more money, revenge-driven, but also with her own sense of humor, flirty, sometimes crass; Emma exaggerates how greedy she is, how much she ‘doesn’t care’ about people, except she can’t really resist helping if someone is truly good or in trouble, she’s confused by kindness and suspicious of it, but loyal to her word, and has felt so much rejection, pain, loss and injustice that she became more cynical and is often in a bad mood, BUT cannot find in herself to be the kind of person who says ‘love doesn’t exist’ or 'love is weakness’. Just because it didn’t work for her, doesn’t mean it can’t be there for others. Flirty, very sexual (even if often it just means fading to black). Children are, naturally, a weak spot, as well as animals. She’ll sleep around for fun (even if I usually fade to black) as long as it’s dark or she can properly keep her face covered, because Regina put a curse on everything that can show her reflection, and any reflective surface will immediately tell her where Emma is, which means that not only she had to change her name into Swan because Emma had to be ‘dead’, but she hasn’t seen her own face in years and has no idea of what she really looks like now. She still wears flowers in her hair, not knowing she picked that from her mother.

FULL NAME: Emma but no one knows, she goes by Swan. Also known as the Swan Bandit

NOTICEABLE TRAITS: she can never show her face because if a reflection catches it, Regina will find her, so she constantly changes from scarves to masks for her eyes, generally keeps herself covered by a cloak with hood as well, bulky clothes, tall boots, which give the impression she’s a tall, big person with a face nearly completely covered and no hair in sight. (Underneath, she still likes to style her hair as pretty as possible because she refuses to give that up). A scar over her heart where one of Regina’s man started stabbing her.

FULL VERSION OF THE BIO

Emma’s story. You can skip this and go to the short bio, but don’t skip the other points, please.

Instead of sending the whole Enchanted Forest in a world without magic, the curse hits only part of it and keeps everyone where they are, trapping them inside its limits forever, unable to age and to have a happy ending, giving them fake memories and making Regina the only queen that they can remember. This happens when princess Emma is ten and it’s when the curse is coming that she meets Rumplestiltskin for the first time: the Dark One takes her away, out of the barrier, right before she’s trapped with everyone else. Emma asks him for help, wanting to save her family, and a deal is struck: in exchange for his help she will owe him two favors: she accepts and her memories of her life at the castle are taken away. For the next seven years Emma is a thief, a lost girl with the same hopeful spirit that runs in her family, until she gets pregnant and engaged and uses the money she gained in the previous years to found them a home and start doing more 'honorable jobs’ with her fiancé Arian. It’s a month after giving birth to Harry that the Dark One shows up again for the first favor she owes him, demanding her first-born son, saying he will bring him to Queen Regina because she wants her baby. With her son stolen because of a bargain that she barely remembers, Emma makes her life-mission to find a way to break the barrier that keeps her out of the cursed kingdom and take him back, possibly killing Rumplestiltskin and Regina in the process.

She knows she still owes him one favor and that is likely to cost her her life.

Between spending her life mostly alone - a thief is never seen as anything more than a thief, no matter how kind she was - and not remembering having a family, especially because Rumplestiltskin left her alone after taking her memories and led her to believe she had been abandoned, losing her son was the last straw that made her lose all hope. She kept to only steal from the rich, trying to be honorable, living in the same house she had been able to share with her baby for a month but not feeling like the same person anymore. All she knew was that it had been her fault too, it had all started the day when she had stolen apples from one of Regina’s carriages. It was a year before losing her child and, again, the Dark One led her to believe that that was the reason why Regina wanted her dead. Not only that but the man she had chosen, she had trusted, the father of her baby was quick to run away without them, telling the Dark One where she was going to hide with the baby because too scared, betraying them right before they could find refuge in the fairies’ territory. (The fairies know who Emma is, Nova is her godmother and in charge now that Blue is trapped, but Rumplestiltskin threatened to kill Emma if they told her before it was time, so they help her as much as they can while trying to keep the Enchanted Forest from falling apart)

By now Emma has almost forgotten how to be around people unless she needs to make an exchange or wants to have some fun with a man for a night, she has not many social skills left nor she cares about finding new friends. If anything, she doesn’t want anyone to be attached to her nor she wants to have feelings. She just wants to take her son back, away from Regina, and get him to safety before the Dark One will show up again for the next 'favor’.

What really happened back then was that Rumplestiltskin told the queen that he had met Emma, the daughter of Snow, and that he refused to kill her because they had a deal. He suggested Regina to ask him to take the baby away from Emma instead because Emma owed him her first born, and then Regina would be free to destroy Emma on her own if she wanted. With this, he made sure that Emma would always try to sneak inside the kingdom and eventually succeed when twenty-eight, and that Regina would pay for trying to trap him inside of the cursed kingdom after changing the curse that he had given her, the curse he had needed to get to Baelfire. Now he will wait until the curse is broken before asking Emma to tell her son to follow him inside the enchanted wardrobe and help him find Baelfire - so that Henry will follow him to avoid his birth-mother’s death. Meanwhile, the queen has been told a little too late that killing Emma would break the curse and while she doesn’t want her man to take her heart anymore, she wants them to capture her so that she can curse her and make sure she’ll never break it. She grew to love Henry as a son and doesn’t want to risk losing him. At the present she has no idea that she and the Swan Bandit are the same person. She looks for her with her mirrors, which is why Emma covers herself from head to toe, and everything is going the way Rumplestiltskin wanted, different curse or not. Here is a drabble with the day when she lost Harry, who became Henry after Regina took him.

SHORT BIO

From her point of view, she has no memory of who she was from before she found herself wandering in the forest alone, in beggar clothes and about to starve until the fairies found her; she thinks she has been abandoned around the time when the curse hit because nobody looked for her and she was too far from the barrier to have escaped on her own. She only has the swan necklace as a hint of who she was and remembers that her name is Emma. She also remembers that she made a deal with Rumplestiltskin before her loss of memories but she doesn’t know what she got in exchange for the two favors that she owes him since then. She is a thief and when she turned seventeen she had a son with a fellow thief named Arian, settling down in a village that was being kept hidden by the same fairies that had saved her life in the woods; a month after giving birth to “Harry” Rumplestiltskin showed up and demanded to take the baby so that he could bring him to Regina, telling Emma that the queen wanted him because of “what she was”; Emma had stolen apples from one of her carriages right before getting pregnant and therefore had to believe that the reason why Regina took her baby and later sent men to kill her was because of those apples.

Emma now wants both of them dead, possibly together with her former 'lover’ as well, because her fiancé was the one who told Rumplestiltskin where to find her right before she could hide herself and the baby in the cave that the fairies occupied near her village. Of course she also wants her kid back, even if she knows that it won’t last long because she still owes Rumplestiltskin one favor. She has no hope left, which is why she has already asked to the fairies, to Nova, to take the kid with them once Rumplestiltskin will come back for the second favor.

She’ll also be an ally of any person who wants them dead.

Regina cursed every reflection so that she’ll know where Emma is as soon as a glimpse of her face will be caught by one, so Emma had to abandon her identity and name and start covering her face and going by “Swan”. At the moment, she’s looking for a way to break in the cursed kingdom, which is nothing but half of the Enchanted Forest kept hidden from sight by a barrier, with inside all the royals and people that lived there and now don’t remember who they are. Time has stopped and only Regina can leave as she pleases, though she keeps controlling her soldiers who are left outside through the mirrors - and is waiting for them to find Emma and bring her where she can hurt her. The rest of the forest, without the many royals who were for a reason or another trapped away, fell into chaos, divided in little towns under the control of whoever was strong enough to take it, and is starting to forget how life was before.

OTHER GENERAL INFORMATION

She often has what sounds like a Southern accent from our world because of the places she has visited, accent that disappears when she has her walls down. It’s mostly used on purpose to be as different from the “Emma” that she knows Regina is looking for as possible.

She sleep thirty minutes every four hours.

She always wears her swan necklace. It was a gift from the Blue Fairy and kept her from forgetting her name. Also, she has a necklace with her engagement ring as a pendant. She also wears flowers in her hair (like her mother) and has one of her father’s swords (the latter thanks to Nova)

Emma’s weakness are kids. She’ll pretend not to like them like she pretends not to like everyone else or at least try to do that, but not for long and not believably. Not even the kids take her seriously. Same goes for pets.

She loves food with passion (and cooking it). Especially chocolate and strawberries. Also dresses and weapons. But mostly food. She really doesn’t appreciate to find that people are surprised when she shows to like dresses and feminine accessories.

She has a scar on her chest, over her heart. It’s very noticeable and she tends to hide it with her clothes in every way she can.

The animals of the forest still recognize her as a princess (and friend of fairies thanks to her necklace) and treat her as such, responding to her singing too. Especially swans.

IN OUR WORLD
The backstory for our world is still a work in progress. It exists but I haven’t had the time to put it properly into words, just to play it, so I’ll write here the first draft, straight from one of my posts:

Not long after she’s born, Emma’s parents are forced to give her up by Regina, and then Regina makes it so that every time she’s fostered it’s by abusive families, so Emma keeps either reacting with violence and escaping or just escaping and living in the streets as a child too, and manages to personally get in trouble with Regina in her teens because she’s already a good fighter for obvious reasons, as well as a thief.

She slips away from Regina’s watch then just long enough to be taken in by the Swans (Elsa, Anna and their parents) when 14, stays there more or less three years, the first years of a healthy life, gets pregnant, runs away with Arian, the boyfriend, to protect everyone and the baby from Regina, Arians rats her out when caught and scared, she gets her baby taken and is made believe that he was killed by Regina, when in reality Regina took him in as a son. She also left Emma to die, but she survived the gunshot and wounds and fire, escaped because she wanted to avenge her baby before letting herself die.

And then Emma spends the next ten years becoming an amazing thief/mercenary/fighter and looking for a way to kill Regina.

And then she finds her parents because they have a whole organization going, with people screwed over by Regina, and it’s a happy accident but she’s also very confused about how to feel and what to do over that, and THEN finds out Henry is alive and it changes her life and plans. She finally takes him back, only doesn’t kill Regina for Henry but has her arrested, uses the resources she has to clean up her records, to have a new identity, not that she was ever caught, and ends up living with her son and parents and trying to learn how to be A PERSON

with Henry she’s sweet and patient and the mother she wanted to be, but with everybody else? She never learned how to communicate properly, left her friends when she was seventeen to never have any again, is rude, she is aggressive, has big anger issues, loses patience easily and can be insensitive when she does even when it’s not on purpose, lots of petnames also because she doesn’t pay attention to names or people or what people say, believes in being fair so she can be extra judgy when she thinks someone isn’t, might sleep around a lot but god knows she’s not one to stay and have pillow talk, is kind to animals and children because they are innocent, is unsure of what’s even appropriate to say, only does favors for money, until she gets Henry doesn’t want anyone to be close to her because she intends to die wh

ABOUT LMD JEMMA ANNE

FULL NAME: chosen one: Anne Reese, but responds to Jemma Simmons too out of habit

GENDER: identifies as cis female (she’s an LMD so technically genderless)

SPECIE: at first a life model decoy - but she considers herself an android since her mind is human and real, then human or inhuman depending on the verse.

ROMANTIC AND SEXUAL ORIENTATION: demi-hetero romantic and heterosexual

DISORDERS: aside from being autistic like I headcanon the original Jemma to be, her disorders are echos of Jemma’s and processed differently from personal traumas, so thanks to her programming she doesn’t have PTSD but only very strong responses to some of her memories (can panic when her ‘death’ is brought up), and is trying to get away from those by messing with said memories as much as possible - which may result into problems later on.

THE SHORT VERSION OF HER BACKSTORY for who knows what happened in AoS:
LMD Jemma wasn’t broken beyond repair by Aida; she had read the Darkhold while waiting to be sent to replace the real Jemma at the base, and that book’s influence added to the brain scans that Fitz uploaded in her artificial body led her to wake up again and become something new.

More of a person trapped in an android body than a robot, able to develop more feelings, relationships, new thoughts, and with no programming to follow.

She ran away to avoid endangering the team since turning herself off doesn’t guarantee she won’t end in the wrong hands, and she eventually developed a taste for life as well.

She wants to keep living as her own person, saving people with her enhanced abilities and one day finding a way to get herself a human body.

She isn’t exactly like the original Jemma, she’s more ‘cheerful’, not dealing with the aftermath of the original Jemma’s traumas as much as the real Jemma is, and was sorta able to bring her romantic feelings for Fitz and the team down to an acceptable level so she’d be able to move on with her life without being fully heartbroken, but it messed with her programming enough that sometimes she lack of self-awareness and says whatever crosses her mind (but her feelings are still very real).

She goes by Anne Reese as a cover name, and tries to keep distance from the real Jemma or anything that can lead to her.

One thing that was purposefully changed by Fitz when he uploaded Jemma’s brain scans was that the LMD was supposed to be more willing to blame him for what happened to her, and also to feel and show more fear than Jemma normally would; her instinct is still to be brave and fight through fear, but she can’t keep herself from admitting to be scared when she is, and feel more worried about her well-being than regular Jemma would be.

THE LONGER VERSION:
The Jemma Simmons LMD was an android created by doctor Holden Radcliffe and the android Aida to replace the real Jemma Simmons (whom the two planned to kidnap and put in the Framework after using her brain scans to create a perfect replica, one that they’d be able to then program to follow the doctor’s orders).

That specific LMD was activated before being given a copy of Jemma Simmons’ mind, and was nothing more than a regular android programmed to respond to Radcliffe and to learn from her surroundings; after Radcliffe was forced into a virtual reality called the Framework, Aida was busy with her preparations to become human and other LMDs were getting ready to wreck havoc, Jemma LMD found the Darkhold: the alien book that broke laws of physic and that was used to create a virtual reality beyond human comprehension, not to mention that poisoned other humans’ minds.

She read it, but later on she was turned off again because not necessary.

Then, when the hero-team needed her to be a bait for Aida and act like the real Jemma Simmons, Fitz uploaded Jemma’s brain scans into the LMD’s artificial brain, and while the LMD was programmed to follow Fitz’s script - and blame him for everything like Aida wanted to hear, and not fight back too hard to keep her identity secret - once it ‘died’, murdered by Aida, and was left behind, its artificial body restarted thanks to the Darkhold’s influence.

She’s free from orders, even if aware to be an android, and because of the Darkhold’s influence not only her artificial brain allowed her to feel the same emotions as Jemma, have her same memories, same thoughts, but she was also given the ability to generate new thoughts, to learn, to dream, to develop new feelings and relationships, and to change, creating new paths between the tech in her brain the same way a human brain creates new neuronal connections. Jemma’s thoughts started feeling less like her own, her past more like a dream.

She was a very real and human woman trapped in a LMD body. But she’s also aware that she needs to disappear, lay low, because her mere existence could be a threat to SHIELD. Since the team was gone by the time she woke up and she had no means to turn herself off, not to mention how even in case of getting broken her artificial body can be found and reactivated, so no solution was safe enough except to run.

The real Jemma Simmons was declared Most Wanted after these events, so LMD Jemma had to walk away from Winsconsin.

Both due to Fitz’s lack of time and reason to make a perfect replica when she was programmed, not having the chance to check for realistic reactions about everything, and the fact that she doesn’t have the same organic brain Jemma has, LMD Jemma remembers her whole life and has the same impulses and reactions but at the same time she doesn’t really feel like any of it happened to her. There are no chemical dysfunctions in her brain, there is no constantly going back and reliving her traumatic memories, so all her unhealthy behaviors, her pain, her anger, all diminished drastically.

Her love for Fitz was still there at first, though, and the pain from knowing she wasn’t the real one and wouldn’t be with him, nor would ever be with the team again, just be disactivated upon meeting them, was present and very real, so LMD Jemma tried to ‘operate’ on her own artificial brain to remove some of those files, to be back to think of him as her best friend, her emotions for him toned down as well.

It worked, but not perfectly: now sometimes she act more ‘robotically’, though still cheerfully, and there are moments of switching from Jemma Simmons’ past enthusiastic and bubbly personality, hopeful, curious, to a more ruthless one.

She goes by her middle name Anne and the last name 'Reese’ inspired by the movie Terminator, since that’s the name of the cyborg sent back in time to save Sarah Connor and ensure humanity’s future. She also changes accents constantly, but favors a Southern one.

She’s looking for a safe place to stay until either she’s destroyed by SHIELD, or until she finds a way to gain a real body, much like the real Aida did, and go on with her own life like any other person. She can’t resist helping people, especially since she knows she’s virtually unstoppable (if not getting her head cut off) and the more time she spends living her own life, the less she wants to disappear.

the part where the team doesn’t get to meet her can of course be changed with plotting. Like for example they aren’t taken to the future right away and get to find her, probably want to turn her off for good, but then realize she’s basically human at the same time she does.

About
Depending on your preference, she is either still a LMD or she could have gotten herself a new and real body, but if robotic she may still be hating the fact that she has feelings, because not being able to age and believing that no one will ever see her as more than a ‘talking toaster’ as she calls it breaks her heart.

Eventually she either becomes a full human again, though with the same mind she had as a LMD, and therefore different from the real Jemma, or accidentally turns herself into an inhuman with super strength. My automatic main verse has her as a still a LMD.

(There can be many ways for her to have her mind transferred to a human body, given that this is a show about aliens)

Even as an android, unless you know she’s one or you open her up, you won’t be easily able to tell the difference with a real person: her skin feels human, she can blush, she can be warm or cold, she can bleed, feels pain even if she toned it down a bit, she doesn’t have to sleep or eat but chooses to do have food anyway because she likes it.

LMD Jemma tries to distinguish herself from the original one in both clothing and tastes for several reasons, but she still slips up when it comes to important points such as Doctor Who and tea which she adores.

The original Jemma wasn’t the best example of how to be always appropriate and know what to say, the android one is therefore even more problematic. Sometimes she accidentally comes off as creepy, other times she’s too blunt, or is too literal.

She’s also very eager to make friends, though, and to help in every way possible.

This AU can either be very sweet or very painful depending on your own tastes.

Abilities
Her body has far more strength than a human would obviously, but she isn’t more agile than the original Jemma’s body, no special moves. She can upload more knowledge into her brain (but then again the original Jemma was a genius capable of memorizing any kind of topic), can see in the dark and has other typical android abilities such as not needing to breathe to survive, even if her mind can’t completely wrap around it and she will feel the urge to do it.

Of course she has original Jemma’s genius brain, expertise in biochemistry, ability to perform medical procedures, high endurance of physical pain when injured, passion for astronomy, random specific areas of knowledge that have nothing to do with her being an android but simply with Jemma having such a good memory and being a curious woman, like knowing the number of species of snakes in a determinate place or types of fishes in Seychelles, is able to work side by side with a genius engineer, and has hacked into a cyborg’s eye before.

Weakness
She’s vulnerable to powerful EMP devices, and given that she can feel pain but not die like a regular human being, she could keep going against an enemy after losing limbs, as long as she can fight the 'useless’ pain she feels, but will suffer the psychological drama of it all. Electricity can also be a problem, but only when the voltage is enough to endanger human lives.

Of course her brain is a weak spot as much as it could be for a human being.

She can pass out, when her body registers a hit that would make the real Jemma faint, and in her time of unconsciousness her body scans itself and fixes issues where possible.

Shipping and relationships
Much like the original one I write, LMD Jemma is demi-romantic and heterosexual, with a high sex drive. However, she’d want to tell people she’s an android before engaging in sexual activities, and she can see why some might not be as interested afterwards - not that she can actually tell people about that. In verses where she’s human, she has no reason to hesitate.

I’m writing from Jemma’s pov, and Jemma is NOT okay. So how she reads the world is a mix of things that actually happened and how her already struggling mind perceived them, a result of the way they all piled up together: self-hatred, guilt, some actual hostility from the others and misunderstandings.
Which leads to changes because this is the AU where she got bitter.

At first neglected by her mother and cared for by her father, once her potential was more clear Jemma was emotionally abused and pushed to her limits by the woman while her father was the one neglecting her due to his work; that’s when she developed an exaggerated sense of responsibility/guilt.
She raised her little sister, while her older brother hated her due to jealously, and she had a grandmother until 12 and the house staff try to take care of her as much as possible.
INTELLIGENCE: canonically a super genius, able to have 2 PHDs when sixteen, to remember engineering-related codes years later even if she’s not an actual engineer, perform surgery and with an incredible memory especially when feelings are involved.



Jemma was taught by her father, as a child, to put all her troubles away, inside her music box, and she kept doing so as she grew up. All the traumas, all the anger she didn’t feel she had the right to let out, all the pain, got repressed because there were more important things to think about, because her friends were the ones'really suffering’ and not her, and simply because she never learned how to process and deal with it.
But the system stopped working and Jemma started feeling like a villain while simultaneously wanting to fight against the people who didn’t help her and, worse, misjudged her and the kind of dangerous person she could be.
The more she uses questionable methods and is aggressive to people, the more she convinces herself she’s lost. And the more she convinces herself she’s lost, the more she makes herself do questionable things. She has conflicting feelings about Fitz, she expects Coulson to be against her and is preemptively antagonistic with him, May and Daisy were more or less on her side so she’s ready to die for them, Mack and Bobbi were nearly strangers she never got close to but who betrayed her when she already had enough of SHIELD so they are no friends, Hunter is equally a stranger but he never did anything against her or the team so she’s not feeling anything special in a good or bad way for him, and she didn’t get to meet any new teammate.
She doesn’t have the healthiest life-style, has mood swings at times, also due to sleep deprivation, and deep down is in desperate need of being told that she’s fine the way she is.

THIS IS THE VERSION OF HER BACKSTORY FOR WHO DOESN’T NEED A FULL RECAP OF THE FIRST TWO SEASONS OF AOS. LONG BUT IT EXPLAINS THE TURNS HER MIND TOOK TO GET TO THAT DARKER PLACE.
Jemma had PTSD as well as survivor guilt and an already exaggerate sense of guilt in general. Considered herself responsible for Fitz’s brain damage in particular and everything that came with it: for his frustration, when he got angry she took it as a personal failure, she watched him struggle to be better and suffered, she hated when she couldn’t finish his sentences but also knew she was slowing down his recovery by doing things for him to keep him from being angry at himself, and felt responsible for not finding a way to make things work. She was falling apart and ran away, undercover, to save him from herself and not for her own health, which instead needed some safe and quiet and not be isolated in enemy territory to avoid getting worse.
And after coming back to the base, she finds herself isolated again, and learns that people actually assumed the worst of her, as well as talking about it with the new guys while she was gone. She was already thinking the worst of herself, and finding out that the people who tried to see the good in everyone else believed she’d be capable of abandoning her best friend because he wasn’t 'good enough’ was already a bad hit.
And not only she couldn’t voice her own reasons and pains because unable to communicate her feelings, but was aware that telling Fitz she had left because his recovery was slower thanks to the pressure he puts on himself to work better with her, and because she made him worse, would make Fitz feel even more guilty and ‘useless’, and do nothing good.

She was mostly alone, once again, even if surrounded by people she knew as opposed to undercover in Hydra, and not a comfortable kind of alone. She overworked and even when repressing her emotions she had to hid to cry often. Skye was facing her own tragedies but did try to show some support and Jemma was thankful for it, but much like May who was equally impartial and close, Jemma didn’t get to see her much anymore; Bobbi was there less than two months before she turned out to be part of another faction, too little time to be nothing but just a friendly acquaintance to Jemma. Her betrayal was still anger-inducing, especially since she brought up Fitz to try to get her out of the locker room, but Jemma wasn’t trusting her with her life before either.
The real last straw after all the self-hatred, all the anger she felt for Ward, all the assumptions the others made, the isolation, the inability to fix things with Fitz, and even Trip’s death and watching Raina slaughter her team in Porto Rico with her new powers, was realizing that Fitz had hidden Skye’s powers from her, expecting her to be capable of hurting their friend. It wasn’t something she’d hold against Skye, at least not with anger, because she understood Skye was scared out of her mind, but it did make her doubt Skye’s trust in her.

Jemma believed she deserved many bad things, she believed she also deserved Fitz’s anger for leaving, for being the cause of his suffering and unable to make it better.
But while she’d let anyone berate her over the things she had done, she refused to accept being seen as someone who could hurt one of her best friends, especially because ‘different’. Her concern had always been alien viruses, like the one that had infected her, and Skye’s potential death, not that Skye would be ‘different’. That, and it did start to feel like everyone beside May was closer to Fitz and mostly thought of her as part of the Fitz/Simmons duo.

And that’s what brought the canon divergence, because the music box cracked, and she started feeling all the anger, the need to attack and fight, the need to defend herself, while simultaneously giving up on proving she was worth of their friendship, giving up on trying to be better, to be good, and just start letting out some bitterness, some sarcasm.
She started feeling she didn’t have a place in shield anymore, and didn’t get closer to Fitz through gossip and small attempts of reconciliation before and after the attack from the other faction of SHIELD, but kept distance and animosity. She still felt she deserved the anger over being the cause of his brain damage and the suffering after, but nothing else beside that.
She was far more aggressive with the other faction of shield, but May voiced her wish to protect her and gave Jemma a bit more will to stay and fight. After all, Skye was still out there and Jemma wasn’t giving up on her either.
Upon finding out that Skye’s powers were natural for her, that she was part alien, Jemma was at peace with her change.

Later on that day she tried to kill Ward and got Bakshi instead, and even tried to get Ward to shoot her. Fitz, not knowing the details, but with good intentions told her that it was okay if she couldn’t try to kill Ward, he wasn’t able to really try kill him even if he wanted to either, it just meant they weren’t like him. And Jemma pointed out that she did try to kill him and was kicking herself for failing, the next bad things Ward did were going to be her responsibility.
If anything, Fitz’s comforting words were a reminder that she was, in fact, not at all like Fitz and the rest of the team.

At that point, she accepted that she was more than capable of killing and felt nothing about murdering Bakshi. She was different, and if she had stayed in the team it would likely because she could bring that to the table, and dirty her hands so that people like Fitz or Skye wouldn’t have to. Do what was needed, even when technically there were other options.

But she didn’t want to stay, because the team, minus May and Skye with their vocal support, and still in Skye’s case with some doubt about Skye’s feelings, felt like a team of strangers now. And she felt she was always going to be the bad guy to them, and worse, the kind of bad guy she actually wasn’t, as opposed to the one she had embraced being.

But just as she meant to leave, she took a curious look at the Monolith and got transported to an alien planet. It was a new kind of hell (and while she had no hold backs, no intention of dating anyone, she wasn’t the nicest to Will either so 'getting together’ was still sparked by the need for some sort of comfort, only one month before leaving Maveth, and she wasn’t in love with himb. But naturally cared enough to want to save him), and when she came back she was surprised to learn that Fitz had fought so hard to rescue her even with the bleak turn their friendship had taken - not so surprised that the others had given up even before finishing to follow all the leads.

At first it was heartwarming, but the disconnection between the two of them, especially with the way she had changed, more to the point, less delicate, too tired to be anything but who she felt, was all too obvious. And the bitterness grew as she realized that the rest of the team seemed to be worrying more about Fitz’s feelings over her relationship with Will and harder personality than about her wellbeing, meaning once again she was seen in terms of how Fitz would be affected by what happened to her. She also expected Fitz to be waiting for his Jemma to come back, the one he fell in love with, and she was too angry to see things any different, just thinking about wanting to leave a soon as possible and training.
But she stayed and fought to get Will back to Earth. Sadly Will had died saving her, as she found out after being tortured by Hydra and watching Fitz almost give his life for her again. And that was all too much, she needed to leave.

Now. And due to her intention of fighting Hydra, she still had her own little reunion with Will/Hive later on.

As soon as Daisy becomes Quake, after leaving SHIELD, Jemma is of course available to have her back if Daisy hasn’t been antagonist with her by then. And even if she has, Jemma is likely to try to help her because she understands Daisy’s reasons, even if she herself can lose her temper at times and feel frustrated by her former team. She also tried to find them after finding out the base had 'exploded’ by the end of season 4, and managed to track down agent Piper eventually, who told her they had been trapped in a virtual reality program, came back, destroyed the bad guy behind it and disappeared again. Jemma knows they can take care of themselves so that was enough to make her walk away.

How and when they meet can change depending on how we plot threads.

Generally speaking, as much as she’s now a vigilante, and she hides behind a mask of 'bad guy trying to do the right thing’, she’s still Jemma Simmons, she still wants to save people, even if it means doing some morally questionable things to do so. May and Skye in particular are family, Fitz is a bittersweet old friend/former friend, and the team can be someone she’s very bitter about. a lot depends on the take rpers have on them.
She’ll keep tabs on them and show up even if not thrilled about it to help.
Characters from other fandoms can find her vigilanting, training to be even more lethal, using all sort of techs we know to be part of her world to help herself, and being extremely broken and tired of being who she is, but with no idea of where to start changing things, because every time she tries to do good, people suffer or die.

A longer version of her bio, only needed if you want more details about what happened in season 2 of aos and how Jemma took it in this AU, otherwise go ahead and skip it.

season 1

And when she’s out of her element after starting a life of adventure, traveling around the world, and sees people die, is asked to be the medical doctor she doesn’t have the right personality to be, is asked to do things above her abilities or people’s deaths will be on her, watches her new best friend Skye nearly die despite her best attempts to patch her up, is infected by an alien virus and jumps off a plane to die and not take the team down with her and is rescued at the last second, is betrayed by a dear friend who drops her and Fitz in the ocean, where Fitz, her best friend, her other half, confesses is love and then gives her the one last bit oxygen left, almost dying and brought to surface by a Jemma who then learns he suffered of major brain damage over it, she puts everything in the box and keeps trying to help. She’s angry at Ward, homicidally so, and that’s okay because he betrayed them, everyone is.

But everything else is locked up.

season 2

Fitz is in pieces, he’s pushing himself too hard to prove Jemma he’s still good at what he does, but at first he can’t even speak, and Jemma learns very fast that she can’t help him, that everything she does to try to make things better, is making him feel worse. And her heart can’t take this. She’s traumatized, she’s alone in taking care of him because everyone in the team has their duties and they have to rebuild SHIELD, Fitz is frustrated and isn’t healing as fast as he should, possibly because she’s there doing too much for him while simultaneously not bringing him any comfort.

So Jemma leaves, goes undercover in Hydra, something she’s not trained for. Does horrible things, knows she’s helping them hurt people, but is also saving so many by stealing information. And she’s hopefully helping Fitz, whom she’s told is okay.

And then she comes back at the base. She finds out Fitz told people he confessed her love and she bailed for that reason, and maybe that’s not the only version, other seems to have thought, including Fitz himself, that it’s his brain damage that drove her away, the fact that he’s 'useless’ as he puts it. Skye catches her crying and reminds her it’s okay to be angry. May still believes in her. But things with Fitz are fully broken, he felt abandoned and apparently most of the team did too.

And then Skye is mostly gone, facing her own tragedies, Coulson is busy, just like May. Bobbi is new and friendly, but Jemma has problems trusting people. Mack is on Fitz’s side, and Hunter might be too, in a way that paints her as the new, unwanted element. Jemma is a bit jealous and a bit hurt, but also understands it’s all her fault, she hurt Fitz and she has no way to fix this.

Fitz tells her he’s leaving to work with Mack, and then Trip dies. Jemma is alone in Porto Rico while the team is back at the base, dealing with the guilt of not protecting Trip from an alien threat, and watches Raina slaughter her team of scientists and escape, changed by the same alien object that has killed Trip and might have infected Skye. She comes home to check on her, speaks of potential dangers of a virus, of how she should have eradicated alien threats. Doesn’t know Skye was changed too - it would be different with her, of course, she’s a friend, she'

ABOUT EMMA SWAN
Now here’s where the more controversial positions I have come into play, and while I don’t mean to offend anyone and I did rp with these characters in other au Emma blogs and respect the fact that you like them, I don’t want to do it here where Emma won’t be friendly due to what happens in canon: I will not write threads with Regina, Gold (after season 3) and Neal in this blog.

An exception can be made for interactions with Gold: since her feelings depend on what the others have done in the past and present, if you write an au version of him that didn’t do anything to harm Emma and her family starting in season 4 (basically if he doesn’t rip Killian’s heart out/tries to kill Emma in 4a, and everything after that), Emma has no particular problems with him.

She will never consider or call Regina a friend, but she will try to keep things civil between them for the sake of everyone in town, even if sometimes she has to bite her tongue (while not accepting any criticism over rescuing Marian and not being okay with being scolded for her ‘stupidity’ or having her loved ones insulted). With Neal she was more forceful about not wanting to date him and realized that she only loved her idealized memory of him, not the man he is now and that she doesn’t know.

If for any reason we decide Neal is alive in the background, they are simply co-parenting and he comes over to pick Henry up, she’s polite, but they don’t spend time together as friends because it hurts.

If you love one of those three canon characters or have a multi and write some of them too we can just avoid the subject, just let me know or otherwise her negative comments about canon events might happen.

Also I’m sorry but the only child of Emma I’ll write with is Henry, not because I don’t love the idea of Hope but because I have too many ideas of how she’d raise her and other children, and I find it too godmod-y from both sides.

Also, Emma’s relationship with Belle depends on whether Belle is supportive of her husband/ex husband unless we write an au, regardless of whether Belle and Killian are friends.

Other divergences: unless we plot a different name she’s not happy about her baby brother being named after Neal for several reasons; she will call him ‘baby bro’ and ‘little brother’ and any other possible variation of petnames. To be clear she wouldn’t be happy about another sibling being called Killian either, even if Killian had stayed dead. Or Graham. Just no.

I ignore the idea that Emma being good comes from her parents taking away the ‘evil potential’ for several reasons, including logic, but I’m okay with the ‘author’ having made her parents believe it/having written their actions and thoughts to force the story in that direction. I am also okay with Emma ‘reverting’ to hiding things from people in season 6 whether she’s called out for it or not, since a couple of years with a family (and more tragedies during these years) will not undo a lifetime of trauma but people have a right to get frustrated. For every step forward, if she feels rejected or betrayed she’ll take ten back.

It’s not necessary for you to read more details, you can guess some plot changes, because for example she would tell Regina she can’t enslave Sidney and put him in a mirror as she pleases, but I’ll still write them in case you want/need to know more.

Just keep in mind that Emma is an incredibly traumatized woman who never had a ‘normal’ life, and before turning 28 she believed she had never been loved and that she had always been maliciously betrayed any time she had tried to hope it would work, with plenty abuse in her past (including literal physical and emotional abuse in her childhood): a few months of having a family while also living through more tragedies certainly didn’t fix all of it nor taught her how to be perfectly functional and nice and reasonable at all times. She always tried to do her best and she has good instincts, and many wounds will heal but scars will stay.

There will be talk of child abuse (Emma being the victim), abuse in general (especially since she will interact with abuse victims), PTSD, violence. Specifically, Emma was physically abused by some guardians, emotionally neglected or abused by others, and while for several reasons I don’t write her as a victim of sexual abuse, for some time she was canonically a homeless child and was aware she was at great risk of it, likely had to run to protect herself more than once.
However she felt used by Neal for years, when it seemed that he had just been a conman who had slept with her while pretending to love her, until finding him in Manhattan and leanring the truth (and it helped a lot, though it doesn’t erase that for years she thought that was the truth), and she is NOT comfortable thinking about the romantic and sexual aspects of her relationship with Walsh, who turned out to be manipulating her and lying the entire time about everything, and was ready to kill her as well.

Now, details about canon divergences, first about Emma in general, then about her big issues with some characters. This is long, but, again, really not mandatory to read:

-After the curse broke she had, surprisingly, more friction with her mother due to their personalities despite having been closer to Mary Margaret, while David was able to understand her need for space better. Still, she loves them both dearly and even when not ready to admit just how much she needs them she’ll defend them ferociously. She may bring up more issues with her parents as a way to solve them in this blog (in universe, because she’s not as delicate and may accidentally hurt their feelings at times. Example: ‘if I don’t want to go to a date, maybe try to find out why and not assume it’s something to help me get over’ can be a theme of discussion). She’s aware of how much they have lost and how much they want to have her around, which initially is even more reason to want to run away while at the same time means she’d die for them.

The idea of her “regretting” giving Henry up beyond a ‘I wish I had the means to raise him’ is laughable since she was a teen in prison with no home, family, money, and Henry, who would not have been left in her care anyway, would have died soon after an attempt to raise him in a car. She doesn’t regret giving him a chance one bit, she just wishes she had been older and with a support-net that could allow her to keep him.

-Emma is not pushed to “change, grow to be a ‘better’, more open person and heal from her traumas and open up to the world more” as fast as she is in the tvshow, I’m not limited by their schedule and cast, so Emma will show more consequences of her past life (alone, unwanted, losing in violent ways everyone she comes close to, being betrayed and believing she had been just used by the one person she loved, having been in jail, homeless, hungry, and so on, and constantly being punished for trying to trust and hope until she found her family) and have more dysfunctional behaviors that eventually she’ll leave behind, and some that she’ll stay/regress back to every now and then for the rest of her life.

She didn’t even exactly had a good idea of what ‘healthy’ looks like for 99% of her life, so she can’t pretend for her family’s sake that she’s well-adjusted in every sense of the word. She can close off and run even in later seasons while still having the natural strong instinct to hope and the even stronger need to keep this family and believe that things will work. That also means bringing up past abuse without always realizing how bad it was or how shocking it might be.

-Seeing Neal again and what happened with Walsh was extremely re-traumatizing, as well as remembering Ingrid right in time for her to die. Also all the deaths and near deaths she witnessed didn’t help.

-Her memories of raising Henry did bring her to a ‘healthier’ lifestyle but the result of those memories and real ones existing in her head together left a bit of a mess of ‘responsibility’ + ‘impulsiveness’ + 'stubbornness’ + 'walls’ + 'feeling in charge/feeling lost’. She may take a memory potion to erase her memories of being raised by her parents as a cowardly princess, which was a wish twisted by the evil queen anyway, because that together with fake memories of keeping Henry and fake memories of years in a hospital and real memories of her real life is just too much.

-That doesn’t mean she’s not going to start taking the roles of mother and Savior, and keep following her instinct, always present, to help people, but she also won’t always be sweet or pick the most socially acceptable responses. She also won’t let people treat her badly without fighting, and in times when she doesn’t fight it (for example Gold telling Milah that Emma had a torrid affair with their son and was now dating her ex) it will be because it hurts too much and she’s used to having to 'take’ pain and shut up about it, it’s not positive and will not written as such.

-Emma never became “friends” with Regina. She tries to be civilized/diplomatic with her for Henry’s sake and to keep her from turning into the Evil Queen again and lose more lives over it (and Emma knows that Regina was up until now a tyrant who killed entire villages, sent children to a cannibalistic witch, and kept a sex slave, among other things, so a jump into the old evil ways means she’d have to kill her, which Emma wants to avoid), but still, she never forgave Regina over Graham, she never moved past all the pain Regina caused her parents and the things she did up until Henry was kidnapped by Tamara and Greg, or the fact that she grew up alone because of her, and in this blog Emma doesn’t lose the ability to snap at her as time passes by, she just chooses her battles better to keep the peace. In this blog she also lets some canon comments pass when they are about her, still to avoid useless fights and of course because used to so much worse, but likely puts a stop to the ones directed to her parents and Killian because no matter how used she is to toxic relationships she also always felt the need to defend others. Regina’s reaction to Marian’s return cements these emotions and the fact that Emma doesn’t trust her change of heart to be that deep.
The idea of finding the author is not something Emma can support: either it would change their entire lives and they’d stop existing as who they are, or Regina would simply be writing a line about finding a happy ending that would force her and another person to fall in love, and then what could the consequences of a happy ending by force be? Especially since nobody in the show can actually say they have a happy ending, they can just say that they went through incredible pain and now life got a bit better, but there are still constant problems and they are just working on being happy and together. Considering the Evil Queen a separate identity is also a no. Considering Regina queen of everything? No.
So like I said there will be no threads with Regina rpers, and when I rp with others if they are close to Emma they will know her real opinion of her. She also doesn’t trust Henry alone with Regina, she may not know about his memory being wiped in season 2 but she knows Regina was willing to kill them all and kidnap Henry very recently (and even while Regina tries to be a hero instead, she shuts him out in every way when upset over Robin, which hurts Henry). OUAT happens in the span of a few years, depending on the thread it could be still a very recent, very fresh wound even just the fact that Regina helped her mother in her quest to become Dark One and was there when Johanna was killed.

-She was neutral about Gold in season 2 and season 3, but in season 4 he eventually takes Killian’s heart, and once again a man she’s romantically involved with is almost ripped from her, and uses him as a slave for weeks which alone would be traumatic enough to never trust Gold again, but adding up to that Gold did try to kill her too, as she finds out after these events from Killian, who had come to save her when he got his heart taken.
Gold is temporarily sent away so Emma didn’t exactly get to express her feelings, but once he’s back? He’ll never be part of the family for her, and his alliance with the queens of darkness was just one more proof of it, as well as him taking back the dark curse once human and free and erasing Killian’s sacrifice which was for Emma a reason to want him to suffer, even if she didn’t go that far with her actions.

So there is no big birthday parties where she and Killian are comfortable and have fun while sitting at the table with Gold or Regina.

-After Neverland and experiencing a (fake) life in which she got to raise Henry and to tell Henry what Neal had really done to her (which we see in the show, in New York Henry only knows his father is a conman who let her take the fall for his crime and they are both cool with it, Emma had more time to process and got to keep the baby) she’s very aware that she did in fact stop loving Neal and just loved the idealized version of him and what he had promised her, she doesn’t know who he is now after an entire decade and he doesn’t know who she is. She will not get in the way of him spending time with Henry and she’ll be relatively nice especially knowing he wasn’t just using her but did mean to share a future with her, but she shuts him down even more firmly than in canon. She knew by the time he asked her out that she also had feelings for Killian (but then, she knew there was something special about Killian since long before) but the two things have nothing to do with each other, in fact in the fake reality she had moved on with Walsh too. She will fight with Mary Margaret if asked to give him a chance too.
If she can’t defend herself in Manhattan it’s because his presence makes her feel smaller and submissive, and that will take a while to go away (proven also by her body language).

-Walsh was a very traumatic experience she will vent about eventually, a man pretending to love her, sleeping with her, manipulating her into a relationship by acting in whatever way he needed to be in her life, only to turn around and try to kill her is no joke. So was watching Gold almost crushing Killian’s heart, and so was thinking back of Graham and realizing exactly what had happened. (and so was watching Henry’s almost dead body in the hospital and in Neverland, and experiencing too many realities in her head).

About the Dragon Age World: it's a medieval/magical Lord of the Rings sort of place, and the Darkspawn, a specie of sort of demon-orcs, is trying to invade it again after a long time of peace (brought by the Grey Wardens), they even got an Arch-demon in charge now. The invasions are called Blights and at the beginning of Dragon Age 1 not many believe one is happening again despite the Grey Wardens, the heroes in charge of fighting Darkspawn, trying to warn people.
Being infected by Darkspawn means madness and possibly becoming like them.

Also, in this world elves who live near humans are treated like inferiors, animals, forced to live in squalor in alienages (filthy city wards), except for the Dalish clan who doesn't go anywhere near humans and is still very proud of its traditions.

Mages are forced to live in a tower (the Circle) as soon as they learn they have magic, and the templars are there ready to kill them in case of demon possession, which basically means being imprisoned regardless of whether you are evil or not, and if they don't pass a test to prove they can resist a demon's possession (or if they are a problem) they can be made Tranquil for a number of reasons: their emotions are stripped away. They can be tracked down via magic, there is a vial of each mage's essence there for this purpose.

Grey Wardens go through the Joining ritual and that means that in a few decades depending on their strength they will start having nightmares and know their end is near - so they also go to the Deep Roads below ground to take down as many Darkspawn as possible and die in battle. My muses are looking for a way to stop this process after becoming Grey Wardens themselves (and the 'Hero of Ferelden' at the end of Dragon age 1).

Note: in Dragon Age 2 more horrible torture against mages from templars is brought up, as well as a first hint that the templars are being kept under control of those in charge by making them addicted to lyrium. The mages start a war for freedom.

In Dragon Age 3 this is still happening as well as a hole opening in the sky, letting monsters come through.

NERIA's bio

Trusting and mischievous, Neria at first wants to break out of the Circle and see the world, she's unhappy there, lonely, even if she doesn't bring it up unless asked. She trusts a friend, Jowan, who wants to escape with his forbidden love and explains he’s being unjustly suspected of using forbidden dark magic, aka blood magic, and helps him break their blood vials so they can't be tracked down. Turns out he is lying, he is a blood mage, and he escapes leaving a horrified and betrayed Neria to be punished for helping him. A Grey Warden, Duncan, steps in to save her and takes her in, and she starts her adventure, and he's killed when Loghein betrays their side because he doesn't believe they can win (and abandons them in battle). Later on she spares Jowan after meeting him again simply because his help may be needed to save a possessed child, and she puts saving people before the revenge that she really would like to get.

With other characters in the game:

She sees Duncan and the Grey Wardens as a family right away, a potential family that she loses almost immediately. Note that she was also very very close to the first enchanter Irving, whom she wanted to make proud, sorta like a father figure. She jokes with the Grey Warden Alistair as soon as she meets him, she is a playful person, but also truly wants to save people and help and the Grey Wardens feels like destiny. She welcomes all new friends and tries to give a hand to literally everyone, super attached to her Mabari (a war dog named "Dog"), tries to be nice to Morrigan but takes distance from people who want her to hurt innocents, and will help her but not like the comments she makes. She’s also not a believer.

Really doesn't like the chantry but tries to be respectful around Leliana who is a believer, but prefers the company of Zevran if a thief is needed. Gets a crush on Alistair almost immediately in my game (note that anything about Alistair won't be forced on Alistair rpers, including a ship, it didn’t happen/won’t happen unless decided later on), even if she flirts around, and she will never make him a less affectionate or trusting person, if anything encouraging him to keeping his heart open even when his sister turns out to be less than pleasant. She’s not the type to want people to harden. She will keep Zevran close and find a grandmother in Wynne. She also finds Shale hilarious and is sarcastic with and amused by Oghren.

LILY's bio

She lived in an alienage, poor and mistreated by humans, and at the beginning of the game hates the idea that she has to marry another elf and to hide her love for battling and swords to her arranged-fiance (not very feminine). Apparently she takes her 'weird' attitude and strength from her equally strong late mother, she is a hothead, impetuous, a bit aggressive, very confident, but with a big heart. When the human lord Vaughan, son of an Arle, shows up at her wedding (which is the same day as her cousin's) and wants to use his 'right' to have her wedding night, so he wants to take her and other female elves including her cousin's fiancée; she attacks and eventually gets knocked out; wakes up in the castle, invites the others to try to rebel too, and goes on a rampage as soon as she's joined by her cousin, who brought her a sword after breaking in; her fiancé is murdered trying to come to her aid, just like one of the elves ladies is killed for trying to rebel like she had suggested. She massacres everyone and chooses to kill the lord instead of taking his bribe. Later on when the guards come for her and her cousin she takes the full blame, but Duncan, a Grey Warden, claims her in the name of Gray Warden and has her pardoned. She has to say goodbye to her father and leave, not too happy to be around humans.

She's very distrusting and generally furious when it comes to humans, very blunt, violent, and if the humans around her are actually nice people they will get through her, like Alistair who is too pure to hate and isn't a racist, otherwise it's best to keep away. Given her most recent trauma she takes a while to start talking to people, and wants to kill all the evil rulers of the land just as much as she wants to take down the Darkspawn. Elves get most of her understanding, though the ones who hate their own race and other elves also make her very angry.

Little addition that she doesn’t have the greatest education, she chose to give up on studying because ‘what difference will it make?’ and chose to spend way more time on physical activities. Now she’s a bit defensive about the fact but also would bring up that she had very limited options thanks to humans’ treatment of city elves. About ELLANA

Smartass, usually in a good mood, needs to make quips and comments when against enemies or even if about to die (due to that and her appearance she reminded me of Buffy, so if you need a real person fc, she'd be young Sarah Michelle Gellar), not a believer if not in her Dalish culture, doesn't think she's a hero and wants to actually help people as soon as given the chance even if she will make all sorts of deadpan comments about it. Brave, she even nearly dies for people she's not that close to, because it's the right thing to do. Tries to get to know and help all her teammates without judging, with some exceptions you'll see below, would not mind going back to a normal life when it's all over but also feels like she may end up dead due to the Anchor on her hand -deep down she was expecting it until the very end. She convinced people to join the inquisition or to support it without even meaning to.

In my game she actually fell in love with Cullen but no such thing will be forced in threads, given that we'd be rewriting the story and she's basically an oc. She's open to shipping, so let's start from there.

Horrified to be called the Herald of Andraste, at the end she just goes with it because it will help keeping peace and encouraging people. They need faith and they need to have it in her, so she accepts but is always about to admit that it's not true and she wasn't chosen by anyone. Just happened to be at the wrong place, wrong time, and can't even remember it.

Befriends Dorian and there is actually some flirting and considering him as more at first, before finding out he's gay. Apparently it's not something she seemed to have been exposed to before, even if I find hard to believe that there were no gay elves, so she may been just too lost into her head to notice? Either way she took it very well, shrugged off the flirting and proceeded on considering him her best friend.

She only gets along with Solas because very curious and wants to learn everything, but feels he's too harsh on Elves and especially on Dalish and their culture, and too sure he knows more than her about it; given his dialogue and my headcanon that she's incredibly proud of her heritage, like all Dalish seem to be, I couldn't imagine her liking him much. Same for Sera who doesn't like elves, no real connection there.

Everybody else? She's super close to them, encouraged both Cassandra and Leliana to gain power because believes in both of them - but especially in Cassandra, despite a very rough beginning and not expecting to become her friend. She helps Cole become a full spirit because he seemed to truly want that option and to be accepted for who he is but she's not sure if it was the right choice. In my game she allowed Hawke to stay in the fade and fight, because Alistair was extra needed (as a Grey Warden and a hero). Lots of gossiping with Josephine is done, and she let Morrigan drink from the Well because she didn't want to risk what being 'bound' to the Goddess would mean. She would dismantle the inquisition if necessary.
After the game, if not following canon and having her married and happy with Cullen, she’s missing the hand with the mark and is working on saving the world from threats, still, but also on trying to enjoy life in between.
